a city-backed dance showcase in chandigarh, staged against addiction, built almost entirely by women — a ballet and contemporary choreographer from new york, a music director from hawaii, a lead dancer from chandigarh, dancers from a studio called the engine room, and more than thirty more from prachin kala kendra. the name and concept were ours. getting it onto a stage took three months and more than a hundred doors, corporate and personal, knocked on one at a time.
